Cleaning

1. Who provides the chemicals & equipment?

Every Zena’s Detailed Maids employee arrives prepared with all the cleaning supplies necessary.  However, we are flexible, if requested and provided, we are happy to clean with your preferred products.

2. What if I need some extra tasks or services?

We’re not a franchise–we can do what you want.  Just call the day before (at least 24 business hours ahead of time) to make your special requests and we will quote you a price for the additional time.  Ovens, fridge, laundry?  Yes!

3. What should I do before a home cleaning service?

To receive the best possible house cleaning services, we ask that you pick up clothing, toys and other household items prior to a visit from our housekeeping teams.

It is not essential, but we do notice there is more time to scrub, sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust when little or no pick up is required prior to the cleaning.

4. What do you mean by mopping floors on your knees?

Exactly that!  We use knee pads to keep our knees comfortable.  This technique is great to get ultra clean floors.  Basically, we will get on our knees and hand mop your floors with our hands.  When hand moping we use microfiber cloths for the mopping.  Please note: This is an additional service.

5. Should I have a Spring Cleaning every year?

Many of our clients do have a Top To Bottom Deluxe Cleaning at least annually to maintain those out-of-reach places that are not a part of the normal, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly routine.  It’s less expensive than the first time Deluxe cleaning because the rest of the house is already at maintenance level if we are servicing your home!

The frequency of Deluxe Cleanings is up to you, they can be done as needed, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.

6. Do you perform janitorial cleaning for businesses/commercial offices?

Yes, we are happy to announce we also provide office cleaning!  We have experience in medical offices, boutique style gyms, and general administrative offices for various companies.

Our janitorial services can be done as needed, twice a week, weekly, every other week, or monthly.

Normally our janitorial services are done in the evenings after business closing.  We can also do during normal hours depending on your business type.

1. How experienced are you all and how long have you all been in service?

Zenaida, has been cleaning homes for about 20 years (wow, time does fly!), she was always turning down prospective home cleaning clients due to her only helpers being her sisters.  So it wasn’t until 2007 that she decided to get really serious about it.

Continuing education, research, and perseverance was the formula needed to successfully help our customers with their cleaning needs.  Its not just a house cleaning anymore.  We are confident your experience will be just as fabulous and pleasurable as your actual home cleaning.  …Forward to now, we are proud to tell our prospective customers, “We look forward to serving you.”

You may also come into contact with Adriana, she has been here from the beginning as well and specializes in helping new clients to become accommodated as well as staying in close contact with the wide variety of needs from recurrent clients.

2. Do I have to sign a contract?

No!  You can cancel any time you wish, this gives our customers the peace of mind to know that they are not in a bind of any kind with us.  But we do have a DISCOUNT program for our Pre-Paying VIPs that offers substantial savings on every cleaning.  You’ll only sign our customer agreement (standard non-compete).

3. Are you a franchise?

No, we just look like one because we are just as professional.  But, we have the freedom to provide you with a more customized service and our prices are  usually slightly lower than the franchises.

4. How do I know I can trust Dream Home Cleaners Maid Service ?

We are still the same great people!  Back when Zenaida opened her cleaning business in 2007 she never thought it would become what it is now, so she simply named it after herself, Zena’s Detailed Maids. Forward to 2015, our cleaning business has become much more of a collaborative company. We all have an important part in this business, therefore Zenaida figured it was time to name it something representing all of us. It was easier said that done but after months of going through “The Name Change Of 2015” we finally became Dream Home Cleaners.

Cost

1. Why do you give online, over-the-phone, or in-home maid service quotes yet other companies prefer to give me an in-home quote only?

TRUTH ABOUT IN-HOME MAID SERVICE PRICE VISITS aka in-home interviews, aka walk throughs. Many companies/franchises DO NOT do online quotes or phone quotes, much less place their prices online as a way to do in-home maid service pricing that is “more accurate” or “tailored specifically to you” while in-home pricing is indeed more accurate this is used as a way to get into your home and therefore make you less likely to say “no”, they will also use this visit to see if they can get away with any “standard up-charges” basically trying to see how much they think you would be willing to pay. 

The TRUTH is many honest maid service companies have the base pricing and add or subtract accordingly depending on what you want or what your tailored needs will be.  We have no problem letting you know over the phone/online what you may expect to pay and you decide if you want to accept or not.  We do in-home cleaning service pricing solely based on your decision.  Zena’s Detailed Maids will NEVER pressure you into an in-home visit as a way of getting a client, we let our cleanings speak for themselves and that is how we keep ’em coming back for more!

UPDATE: March ’09, we wanted to add this because we just could not believe what one of our newest cleaning service customers told us, we felt compelled to spread the word. 

She comes to us from Virginia, there she found out about maid service companies that will not price you unless you agree to an in-home cleaning service quote.  Once they get your information and address, they then go and research were you live, they also research you, like what you do for a living, and such, and that is what they use to price you, basically they want to price you based on the highest amount they think they can get you to agree to, someone in the working or middle class will probably not be charged as much as someone in the upper richer class. 

WOW! Are you appalled?  We sure were!  Following a Price Chart is the honest thing to do, not to mention it is so easy to price people quickly with a price chart next to you rather than having to do all that research…  Make sure you are being priced based off a price chart, not how much money they perceive you are willing to spend.

2. Why are some services cheaper than others?

3. Is there any way I can find out what exactly I am going to pay?

Everyone that requests a cleaning service price over the phone or online will receive a home cleaning quote range, most likely  your final price will be within the quoted range, however, if once we arrive the home is different than what we expected we will  let you know before the cleaning starts, this way you will not end up with a surprise bill. 

If you need a price quote now we recommend you give us a call or fill out our Cleaning Quote Form.  If you rather have an exact price we recommend scheduling an in-home visit, we give you a chance to go over everything you need exactly (like doing a walk through) and in turn we determine an exact cleaning service price for first time and on-going, then go from there. 

Please note quotes online or over the phone are as accurate as possible, as with any service-to-home it is impossible to determine the exact price until we see what we are working with.

4. When do I pay for services?

At the time of service.

First time/one time, move in/out, vacant cleaning service – We will process your credit card for payment once Cleaning Techs arrive.  Rest assured we do NOT charge ahead of time.

For on-going cleaning service – You can leave cash/check on the counter or we can charge your credit card the day of cleaning.

5. Do you take credit cards?

Yes, for your convenience we accept:  VISA, and MASTERCARD.

Side note: We also accept Paypal, and our Gift Cards are as good as cash!

6. I want to use my credit card to pay for my cleaning service, but I’m a little cautious about how you handle this confidential information, so how can I trust my information will not get out?

We completely understand this situation and that is why after the first time cleaning we also accept checks and cash, which we can email receipts for, some people also consider their checks as receipts since it leaves a paper trail as its being processed. 

Please rest assured that ALL credit card information is immediately placed into our software, only the administrator has the right to see the credit card information.  Everyone else only knows you pay with a credit card but blocks the numbers from being viewed. 

As for the credit card form you fill out, it is placed in our filing system inside our safe (which also houses our customer’s keys) that requires Zena’s combination to open, our safe is a heavy duty one embedded into the main structure frame, so your document is fully protected.  In basic terms, it is kept completely confidential.

7. Do I have to tip your employees?

No, it’s not expected, but it is greatly appreciated for work well done.

8. Why do you charge sales tax when other cleaning services do not?

We charge sales tax as per Texas State Law.  When having employees we must charge sales tax.  Other cleaning services whom have contractors or subcontractors performing the cleaning services do not have to charge sales tax.  This leaves the burden of insurance and liability on you, the customer.  All of our cleaning techs performing cleaning services are employees, we cover the insurance, liability and bonding, this relieves our customers from any possible legal troubles.

9. Can I get change if I pay with cash?

Unfortunately we do not carry spare change.  Most of our customers pay with credit card or check (we only accept checks after 1st time cleanings).  We suggest you pay exact amount.  Whatever is left over we gladly classify as tip on your cleaning techs’ paycheck.

Employees

1. Are your housekeepers employees or sub contractors?

Our Cleaning Techs are employees.  Thoroughly screened and trained by an experienced Training Manager.

2. Do you do background checks & thorough screening?

Absolutely!!  You’d be shocked at who does not pass.  Some of Dream Home Cleaners’ staff use the maid service we provide in their own homes.  So it only makes sense to run every hired employee through a criminal background checks.

Cathy Sue Weaver was raped and beaten to death in her suburban Orlando, FL home on August 27, 2001.  Her killer then set her home on fire with the intent of destroying any evidence.

Six months prior to her murder, Sue had contracted with Burdine’s, a premier FL department store, to have the air ducts in her home cleaned.  Unbeknownst to her, both of the men sent on the service call had criminal records. One of the men was a twice-convicted sex offender on parole.  Six months after the service work was completed, Jeffrey Hefling returned to Sue’s home to rape and murder her.

Sue’s murder is not an isolated case.  Tragically, many consumers are sexually assaulted and murdered each year by employees whose jobs allow them access to their victims.  The Sue Weaver C.A.U.S.E., Consumer Awareness of Unsafe Service Employment, has been founded in Sue’s memory to promote education and awareness to the dangers of not knowing who you hire. C.A.U.S.E.’s national awareness campaign educates consumers, employers and legislators on the necessity of proper annual criminal background checks on workers entering our homes or working with the vulnerable populations.

 

3. Who does Dream Home Cleaners hire to clean my home?

Our cleaning professionals are trained, bonded and insured before stepping into Dream Home Cleaners’ recognized uniforms. Our residential housekeepers respect customers by never eating, drinking, smoking or using appliances during home cleanings. And each Dream Home Cleaners employee takes pride in their work, receiving regularly updated training and supervision to ensure quality maid service.

Furthermore, we know all of our employees on a personal level, they are sisters, family and friends.  Above all we take the extra step of background checking our prospective employees.  This is done for ours and your peace of mind.

4. Am I liable for worker’s compensation, insurance or employment taxes?

Zena’s Detailed Maid Service is a simple, worry-free home cleaning service solution. That means we take care of personal liability with regard to work-related injury and employee taxes. Some independent maid services may not, which makes homeowners liable. With Zena’s Detailed Maids we are fully insured, licensed and bonded for your protection and ours.

Insurance

1. Are you insured and bonded?

Yes!  Your safety and protection is top priority.  Adriana’s husband is a Military Veteran and prior police officer so we’ve seen what can happen when security is less important than profits to a service.

2. Are my things safe with your employees?

We conduct criminal background checks on every prospective employee, we verify job history, and conduct employment verifications.  Our outstanding record of quality hiring and our low employee turnover make us one of the safest services worthy of your trust.  We rank safety and security at the top of our business priorities.  Above all, we are insured and bonded.

3. What about my house key, I want to give you all a copy so I don’t have to leave my key out or having to remember to leave it out, and I don’t want to risk leaving my door open or my key out since I fear someone may break in, BUT I’m worried something may happen to my key or even worse get broken into by your employee! So how can I trust you all on this?

We understand your feelings on this, that is why we are NOT forceful about you giving us your key.  Some clients give us their key from the get go, some give us their key after they have gained our trust, and some never give us their key, they instead leave it under the mat or leave the front/back door unlocked for us, or give us a garage code.  Its ultimately your decision.

The upside for us having your key copy is that you don’t have to remember to leave it out, and no risk of break in, plus if you forget and we have no access there is a fee we charge for that since we used our resources to get there.

Due to our very strict and picky ways of hiring, you may rest well knowing the type of people we hire are not the type to think up a mad plan of breaking in later.  That is a non-issue with us and we make sure it stays that way by only hiring the very best!

To shed a little light on what happens to your key once its with us, we keep it in a key box which also goes into our safe, its marked as a number that is referenced to your name, our software tells us which key is which and only the administrator has access to that. Once we are done for the day we place the key box inside our safe and it always stays there when not in use.  Basically, all keys are crossed referenced for our mutual peace of mind.

Pets

1. Are you pet friendly?

Of course!  Our pet owner customers have been entrusting us more with their non-human babies since we started.  We like animals and know what to do and what not to do to make them feel ok with us around.

We are the kind to make sure the spray bottle liquid doesn’t get into the pet bowls, if they are used to roaming around we are ok with that as well.

We DO NOT require you to seclude them, and we know our customers know their pets best and would seclude them if you thought it was necessary.  In a way it makes our job funner when we have a friend that enjoys us coming over.  Usually all our in-door pets are taught well by our clients and are pretty friendly after the 1st or 2nd cleaning.

We love them, and we’ll treat them like our own.  Your special instructions are noted on our Work Orders so the Cleaning Tech will know your wishes with regard to your pets.

1. Do you pay for referrals if I refer you?

Yes!  Your next cleaning is absolutely FREE when you refer us to someone who uses us!  You could get all of your cleanings for FREE if you just spread the word to everyone.  We thrive on referrals and are generous when you refer!

Schedule

1. What day and time will you show up to clean?

Each home gets the attention it deserves and not a predetermined amount of time. We clean Monday through Friday (and Saturdays on special occasions) between 9am and 5pm. You can pick your arrival time:

Between 9 and 10am
Between 12pm and 3pm (a tighter arrival time range can be given 24 hours ahead of time)

Our customers are not stuck waiting all day for us to show up!

2. I don’t want regular cleaning services, but I DO want to use your cleaning services once in a while, can I do that?

Absolutely!  We have long time clients that only call us when they want cleaning services.  Please note, your fee may stay the same as your first time cleaning since your cleaning service will not be as often.

3. Do I have to be home during house cleanings?

Because we clean Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. most of our customers aren’t home but the vast majority trust Zena’s Detailed Maids with the key to their home. For additional security, all house keys are individually coded and cross-referenced.  Our employees are carefully screened and trained, most of them have been with us for years!

4. I am leaving on vacation, what do I have to do to temporarily cancel services?

Just let us know, at least 72 hours in advance when your last cleaning service will be and when you want to resume again.

Please note, once you come back you may be charged a higher than normal fee since you have not had a maintenance cleaning in a while and there will be more dust and such to clean up. Also, your appointment date/time may be changed if you go over a month without a cleaning service, since it would be impossible for us to hold your space for a long period of time.

5. What happens if I need to reschedule my maid service?

Zena’s Detailed Maid Service works with you. Simply call or email at least 24-hours before your regularly scheduled home cleaning with a more convenient cleaning times/days. We will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs.

6. What if I have to skip or cancel my service?

Give us at least 24 business hours notice of your change in plans and we will promptly reschedule or cancel your service.

7. What if I need to change my day of service?

Just tell us what day works best for you.  We have multiple Cleaning Techs/Cleaning Teams and can accommodate most requests.

8. Do you work on Saturday?

Yes, upon request and subject to availability.  But yes, we have Saturdays available.

9. What if my home cleaning falls on a holiday?

We call or email to reschedule for a more convenient time when house cleanings fall on holidays.

You are also welcomed to reserve cleaning, butlerette services,and after party cleans ahead of time for your holiday festivities. If you’ve scheduled that extra holiday cleaning service, canceling or rescheduling does require at least 24 business hours notice.

1. I am not sure if getting a maid is best for me?

No worries, take your time and make the best decision possible for yourself.

Educate yourself, read all about it, ask the opinion of your friends or family, search the net, you will be surprised how much information there is out there about whether a maid is convenient for you or not. Research the potential maid service companies you will be inquiring with and see what they are doing, are they active in the cleaning industry (shows they are open to suggestions, like to stay ahead), are they awarded (shows they know what they are doing), things like this will help in your decision making process.

2. How do I know I can trust Dream Home Cleaners Maid Service?

4. What if my maid service missed a spot?

Our maid services offer consistent, quality home cleaning. Like all new relationships, however, miscommunications might occur and we may make a mistake. That’s why we offer a house cleaning service guarantee, which means if you notify Zena’s Detailed Maids within 24 hours, our house cleaning staff will correct their mistake at no charge.
